On Dec.16, 2015, the opening ceremony of the second World Internet Conference & the Light of Internet Expo was held in Wuzhen. CETC’s Chairman Xiong Qunli, President Fan Youshan and the Chief Engineer Wu Manqing were among the participants in this ceremony.

The theme of this Expo highlights the ideas of innovation, harmony, green, openness, and share. This event mainly demonstrates twenty years’ development achievement made by the Chinese Internet and China’s contribution to the world’s internet development. The most cut-edge technologies, new products and applications are also shown in this Expo. 258 enterprises from the countries and regions in Europe, US, Asia-Pacific and Latin America participated in this event.

CETC participates this Expo with the ideology of “New Smart City”, which attracts a large audience. Let’s continue to find out what’s new on CETC’s exhibition.

What is “New Smart City”? Where is the “New” represented? And how to build a “New Smart City”? All the answers for these curiosities could be found in CETC’s “New Smart City” theme exhibition.

From Dec.16 to 18, in the Second World Internet Conference held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province, CETC presented its exhibition on the “New Smart City”, and made a full illustration on the development ideology, construction object, implementation method and construction key point to the building of the “New Smart City”.

CETC’s “New Smart City” theme exhibition is based on the “1+4+6”. “1” is the general structural description of the “New Smart City”, “4” are the four construction key points to support and sustain the “New Smart City”, and “6” represent the six experience applications of the “New Smart City”. These three parts systematically illustrate the ideology of “New Smart City” and CETC’s engineering practice and comprehensive capabilities in the building of “New Smart City”.

It is worth to mention that more than half of the exhibitions are put on the show for the first time. The concept of “New Smart City” has never been shown on any of the previous exhibitions. All these new concepts, new applications and new products with rich contents have supplied this Expo with more varieties.

“New Smart City” is focusing on the serving of the people

In the first part, the general structural description, the concept and effects of the “New Smart City” is vividly presented.

As a state-owned enterprise in the electronic information field, CETC has dedicated in the research and practices in the building of “Smart City”. Facing the challenges on building the “Smart City” and the demands on building “New Smart City”, the President of CETC Fan Youshan states that the major objects of the “New Smart City” is to serve the people with full process and full time, govern the city with efficiency and order, make the data open and share, make the economic development green and open sourced, keep the cyberspace safe and clear. Through the system planning, information-led reform and innovation to promote the deep integration between the new generation information technology and city modernization, with the iterative evolution to realize the new ecology which the country and city can develop harmoniously. The essence of the “New Smart City” is the concrete measures and reflections to serve the people wholeheartedly.

Based on this, CETC proposed to push forward the building of the “New Smart City” with the “Six One Method”, that is to say one system structure, one sky-earth combined grid network, one function platform for general use, one data set, one city operation center and one standard. With this “Six One Method”, we can make the city management more modernized, more intellectual, with safer development and the people’s life happier.

Four key points for “New Smart City”

The second part of the exhibition demonstrates the four key points of how to support and sustain the “New Smart City”, that is the open system structure of the Internet of Things, the city’s open information platform, the city operation command center and the cyberspace safety system.

About the open system structure of the Internet of Things, on the basis of experiences of numerous engineering projects, according to the common demand on the construction of the Internet of Things, CETC has made an open structure framework proposal with its own intellectual property. Through the building the infrastructures centered with TNS and Port of Union, CETC wil achieve the dominant and initiative control on the cyber development and cyberspace security. With the products and service combined, CETC will create a new business format throughout the industrial chain.

About the city’s open information platform, CETC takes the “Platform + Big Data” as the strategy, to fully utilize military and civilian merging technologies, to provide city resource Big Data general service platform, focusing on sharing the data, eliminating information island, guaranteeing data security to enhance the application level of Big Data.

About the city operation command center, CETC is relying on the existing emergency platforms of the country, combined with the relative requirements, proposing the resolution on the City Function Command Center, to fully monitor the city’s function, connecting to the data of the society and internet, to realize trans-department coordination, in order to enhance the effectiveness of dealing with the emergencies and to control the real-time situation of the city economy and society function.

About the cyberspace safety system, CETC is building the security system covering “City Infrastructure Security, City Data Center Security, City Virtual Society Security”, making research into the security products and resolutions, so as to play an important role in the areas of Cyberspace Management, City Security Function and Emergency Respond.

Creating the “New Smart City” that facing the globe

Through the methods of video, actual products, real-time system and interaction experience, the third part of the exhibition demonstrated CETC’s existing “New Smart City” applications and advanced ideologies in the areas of Smart Summit, Smart Wuzhen, Smart Parking, Smart Medication, Smart Visual, Smart Environment Management, Cyberspace Security, Co-production, Open Internet of Things. This part fully illustrates CETC’s strength and resolution in the building of the “New Smart City”. Among them, CETC’s CETHIK presented its Hawk series professional drone in the exhibition, which comes under the spotlight.

It is worth to mention that CETC demonstrated its proposals of Smart Environment Management. This could perform smart recognition on the atmosphere pollution, and the Smart Environment Management platform can provide air quality monitoring, atmosphere pollution forecast alert, contamination source analysis and emission reduction simulation and effects assessment to all levels of environment protection departments, meteorology departments and government decision-making departments, thus to realize the smart management of the atmosphere environment.

This exhibition is a full representation of CETC’s thinking on the building of “New Smart City”. CETC has united more than 20 dominant companies both home and abroad in the industry chain to establish “Enterprise Alliance for New Smart City Construction”. On the sub-summit “Digital China”, the launching ceremony of this Alliance will be held. As the lead unit of this Alliance, CETC will work together with all the world famous companies, institutes to create an Institute of New Smart City in Shenzhen. Together they will enhance the building of “New Smart City” and promote the development of relative industries, and create “New Standard, New Model” and set new benchmark for the “New Smart City”.

Later on, CETC is going to enhance the coordination effort on different plate and key projects. Relying on Shenzhen New Smart City Institute, CETC will create resolution of “New Smart City” with high market competitiveness and with the top-level design method system CETC will make the “New Smart City” industry plate bigger and stronger, so as to lead China’s building of “New Smart City”. With the help of the “Belt and Road” strategy, CETC will export high-end information service of the “New Smart City”.

“New Smart City” is not a kind of wisdom, but it is a kind of city, which functions in a smart way; it is not a project, but a process, which is driven by ideas of engineering; it is not an innovation, but a reform, which is powered by innovative methods. This is not only a simple ideology, it is more like a beautiful prospect.
